More efficient fan motors and electronic controls can cut HVAC power consumption up to 74%.

Electronically Commutated Motors

With permanent magnets instead of induction coils, they consume 40% less electricity to do the same job as shaded pole and permanent split capacitor motors with induction-coil technology. With Electronic Speed Control, the motor will slow down whenever the compressor is off and speed up when the compressor turns on again. This maintains the temperature drop across the coil without wasting power.

Fan Coil and VAV Fan Box Retrofits

Replacing old motors in fan coil and VAV fan box systems with Electronically Commutated Motors can lower energy use by as much as 40% for hotel room or zoned office space. Office workers and hotel guests will enjoy the extra quiet, and hotels will gain a social responsibility sales point to promote.

Integrated Variable Speed Control

Many RTUs consume about three times as much energy as they need to. Retrofitting an RTU with an Electrically Commutated Motor (see above) and integrated variable speed control can eliminate that waste. While the motor does the same work as standard induction motors, the programmable speed control will compare indoor and outdoor temperature and humidity, then set the motor speed for heating stage 1, heating stage 2, cooling stage 1, cooling stage 2, economy, or continuous fan – optimizing airflow while minimizing energy cost, reducing power consumption by 74%.

Programmable Integrated Electronic Control

Paired with an Electronically Commutated Motor (see above), programmable integrated electronic control lets you maintain a specific airflow speed (as measured in cubic feet per minute) while cutting power consumption by more than half. The motor also has a soft ramp up to speed. It’s also one of the quietest motors available – very helpful in buildings like hotels, commercial or government offices, or schools, where people sleep, work or learn. And it reduces your energy use by 60%.
